What does resilience mean to me and how can it be visualized?
In this continuous project, I've gone through a process of self-reflection, ideation and creation rooted in both my lived experience as well as the customs and beliefs from Filipino pre-colonial matriarchal structures. The intuitive one-ness with nature, a profound respect for the ability to create life and heal; women were respected priestesses as well as powerful warriors. It was the embodiment of the divine feminine that mattered, not the physical attributes. I have continued to develop upon this concept across varying mediums, working with: ai, blender, digital illustration, adobe photoshop & after effects. The next phase of this project will consist of translating the Metamorphosis Masks into physical installation pieces working with materials such as cloth, glass, metal scraps, paint and plaster on canvas.
